Evergreen Roadworks was proud to represent our industry at the annual career fair at Deland-Weldon High School in central Illinois. Alongside our fellow employees from Open Road Paving and Champaign Signal and Lighting, we showed up to inspire the next generation of skilled trade professionals. This event welcomed nearly 200 grade school and high school students from communities across the region.
Our goal was simple: show students that working with your hands is not only respectable—it is rewarding. Careers in construction offer stability, growth and the chance to make a tangible impact on the world around us. From building roads that connect communities to creating infrastructure that supports everyday life, these roles are essential and deeply fulfilling.
The fair featured hands-on opportunities, including equipment displays outside, giving students a real feel for the tools and technology that power the industry. Alongside Evergreen, other contractors and union representatives were present to share insights and answer questions about pathways into the trades.

For many of our team members, this event was personal—several had children in attendance. It was a reminder that the future of construction starts with conversations like these, where young people learn that success does not always mean a four-year degree. Skilled trades offer competitive wages, job security and the pride of building something that lasts.
At Evergreen Roadworks, we believe in breaking down stereotypes and championing careers that matter. We are excited to continue investing in outreach programs like this, ensuring that tomorrow’s workforce is ready to keep America moving—one road at a time.
