Based in Northeast Illinois, about 90 minutes outside of Chicago, Evergreen Roadworks’ Morris, IL branch proudly specializes in full-service asphalt emulsion applications that enhance the longevity of roads.
Before joining the Evergreen Roadworks™ family of companies, this location was known as ProTack. ProTack started as a family business, providing reliable asphalt spraying for its Midwest customers. As the name suggests, its focus began with bituminous tack coat, which has since expanded to a wide selection of spray-applied asphalt products.
Unique to this company, it was founded by the owners of the Tri-State Asphalt plant (est. 1984), a leader in the asphalt emulsion industry, which is now an Asphalt Materials, Inc. (AMI) location. With a deep understanding of how to produce high-quality asphalt emulsions, binder, sealants and more, ProTack’s founders began delivering excellence from material production through application.
In 2024, ProTack officially joined forces with other skilled contractor businesses to form Evergreen Roadworks, a network of pavement preservation pioneers. Now, as our Morris, IL branch, the team continues to provide long-term value through several applications, which all serve to prolong the life of asphalt pavements.
The leaders below are just a few of the full team of truck drivers, mechanics, superintendents and field workers who serve customers across our Midwest footprint.
Randy is a veteran with over 20 years of experience owning and operating businesses and over 10 years of experience in the asphalt industry. At Evergreen, he leads the Morris, IL branch.
Stacy has helped run this location beginning in 2019. She is a strong leader and problem-solver, and responsible for the administrative side of the business.
Dave started as a truck driver applying J-Band and tack coats. In 2023, he stepped into his current role, where he fosters customer relationships, manages project scheduling and more.
Christina’s organization and attention to detail are key assets in her management of certified payroll, billing and necessary project reporting.
Today, the team from Morris specializes in liquid asphalt emulsion applications that are sprayed on the pavement either just before or after hot mix asphalt paving.
Tack coats are light applications of an asphalt emulsion designed to ensure a strong bond between asphalt pavement layers to prevent slippage or delamination, essential for pavement longevity.
J-Band®, a Void Reducing Asphalt Membrane (VRAM) (Often called Longitudinal Joint Sealant (LJS) in Illinois) – Applied with a specialized distributor truck.
J-Band is a cost-effective way to extend the life of longitudinal joints and rumble strips. Unlike other joint and crack sealants, J-Band VRAM is applied at the joint area before surface course paving, where it then migrates up in the asphalt, filling the air voids that allow for destructive water intrusion. Rapid Penetrating Emulsion (RPE)
RPE is a specially formulated emulsion that reduces permeability by penetrating into the pavement to fill air voids, which is critical to extending pavement life.
In addition to J-Band, Tack Coat and RPE, Evergreen Roadworks offers a full range of pavement preservation services, including:
